People in this conversation

  • Born in Hamilton, Ontario, Ambrose studied under John Herbert Caddy in Hamilton c. 1856. A landscape, marine and animal painter in Quebec and Ontario, he worked both in oil and watercolour, although the latter appears to be his preferred medium, and was particularly interested in the Hamilton and Murray Bay areas. He was a judge at the Hamilton Provincial Exhibition in 1868 and exhibited at the AAM in 1870, and the SCA in the same year. His work is represented in the HAG and MMFA.
